Just A Closer Walk With Thee by Ella Fitzgerald

Just A Closer Walk With Thee by Ella Fitzgerald

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3vTNPPMa9c

"Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
I am weak, but Thou art strong,
Jesus, keep me from all wrong,
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more,
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom's shore, to Thy shore."

The Beauty of a Tree

For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when they live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like B. Marley.  In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfill themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree. When a tree is cut down and reveals its naked death-wound to the sun, one can read its whole history in the luminous, inscribed disk of its trunk: in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness, all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written, the narrow years and the luxurious years, the attacks withstood, the storms endured. And every young farm boy knows that the hardest and noblest wood has the narrowest rings, that high on the mountains and in continuing danger the most indestructible, the strongest, the ideal trees grow.

Trees are sanctuaries. Whoever knows how to speak to them, whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth. They do not preach learning and precepts, they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.

A tree says: A kernel is hidden in me, a spark, a thought, I am life from eternal life. The attempt and the risk that the eternal mother took with me is unique, unique the form and veins of my skin, unique the smallest play of leaves in my branches and the smallest scar on my bark. I was made to form and reveal the eternal in my smallest special detail.

A tree says: My strength is trust. I know nothing about my fathers, I know nothing about the thousand children that every year spring out of me. I live out the secret of my seed to the very end, and I care for nothing else. I trust that God is in me. I trust that my labor is holy. Out of this trust I live.

When we are stricken and cannot bear our lives any longer, then a tree has something to say to us: Be still! Be still! Look at me! Life is not easy, life is not difficult. Those are childish thoughts. Let God speak within you, and your thoughts will grow silent. You are anxious because your path leads away from mother and home. But every step and every day lead you back again to the mother. Home is neither here nor there. Home is within you, or home is nowhere at all.

A longing to wander tears my heart when I hear trees rustling in the wind at evening. If one listens to them silently for a long time, this longing reveals its kernel, its meaning. It is not so much a matter of escaping from one's suffering, though it may seem to be so. It is a longing for home, for a memory of the mother, for new metaphors for life. It leads home. Every path leads homeward, every step is birth, every step is death, every grave is mother.

So the tree rustles in the evening, when we stand uneasy before our own childish thoughts: Trees have long thoughts, long-breathing and restful, just as they have longer lives than ours. They are wiser than we are, as long as we do not listen to them. But when we have learned how to listen to trees, then the brevity and the quickness and the childlike hastiness of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy. Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree. He wants to be nothing except what he is. That is home. That is happiness.

LYRICS (by Vaughn Andre Benjamin, BMI)

Itektion in this time
Itektion everytime
Upheaval is turning over in this time
Everyday you get up a morning and get a new surprise
A different political terrain, right before your eyes
Taking shape, in the time
CHORUS:
Just keep good relations
Mongst I & I more time
Mout Zion I more time
A Mount Zion I more time
Mongst I & I more time

Their pride is wounded
A correspondent had them responding
Didn't know the tape was still running
The sinister tone the emails carried
After requested expert for analysis
And a after they tested
Protestation a remove things in a palaces
Subterranean a deeper than a secret
Electronic betrayal the court receipt is
CHORUS

Desperation proportion of a body politic
The internet what fed them perspective
chaotic need fe know them need a alternative
Before you all go break down and tear down everything
Uno ave fe ave some kind a plan of how to proceed in
Them ave a ripple effect distabalizing everything
CHORUS

All economies all nations will be affected
Every similar situation now is panicking
Wondering if violent repression will be needed
All now is weda if is to vacate the premises
The thresh hold break between passivity and resist
Them send the blood hounds when them smell secret accounts
And then the masses right now set out fe work it out
The after math stability was hope alone
Pundits called it mob rule and throwing stones
That the play by play is still in play let that be known
No nation can be arrogant and go look down dem nose
CHORUS

Raising awareness for the Save the Children Campaign in East Africa
Donations Link: http://www.imgonnabeyourfriend.org

The devastating food crisis in Somalia and across East Africa is the worst in decades. Over 12 million people are affected -- many have no food, no water and have lost all their livestock. Millions of children face starvation if help is not delivered now. Save the Children and other aid agencies have launched a huge emergency response across the region and are on the ground delivering life-saving aid.

The 'I'm Gonna Be Your Friend' campaign supports Save the Children's appeal, helping raise funds for urgently needed food, water and medicine. This huge social media campaign has already unified the entertainment world, with over 150 of the world's most influential musicians, artists, sports stars and celebrities all posting details on the campaign to their Twitter and Facebook fans.

Follow on Twitter #beafriend

Icons, celebrities and artists across the world who have posted details include: Eminem, Lady Gaga, Jay Z, David Beckham, U2, Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, Muhammad Ali, Jennifer Lopez, Muse, Coldplay, Elton John, Black Eye Peas, Lewis Hamilton, Britney Spears, Bruno Mars, Robert Plant, Kanye West, Madonna, Cristiano Ronaldo, Justin Bieber, Brian May, Sting and Rihanna.

Hundreds of millions of Facebook and Twitter (#beafriend) fans have been able to view the short film created by award-winning director Kevin MacDonald from footage of East Africa, set to Bob Marley & The Wailers' 'High Tide or Low Tide'. 'High Tide or Low Tide' was specially chosen by the Marley family for the resonance of the single's lyrics, "I'm Gonna Be Your Friend", which form the title of the campaign and the message shared by friends across their social networks.

Rita Marley said, "Not one child should be denied food nor water. Not one child should suffer. Along with Save the Children, we must stand up together as friends to put a stop to this, to feed our children and to save their lives."

Justin Forsyth, CEO of Save the Children said, "Save the Children, along with other aid agencies, is already supporting families with food, water and medicines. But the crisis is getting worse by the day and millions of children are facing starvation. We can stop this happening. But we need to act now. Every day counts. Please help us by downloading this powerful single and let's stop this catastrophe getting any worse."

• 1500's most went to church and worshiped a White God, same today.
• 1500's there was "Mammy" (44:00) characterized as a loud, large Black woman with a bad attitude, today they're found everywhere (ie. Mo'Nique)
• 1500's Blacks worked for Whites and ate junk food, same today.

What Rastafari Means To Him

The Rastafari movement, or Rasta, is a spiritual movement. It arose in the 1930s in Jamaica, a country with a predominantly Christian culture where 98% of the people were the black descendants of slaves.[1][2] Most of its adherents worship Haile Selassie I, Emperor of Ethiopia (ruled 1930–1974), as God incarnate, the Second Advent, or the reincarnation of Jesus. Members of the Rastafari movement are known as Rastas, or Rastafari. The movement is sometimes referred to as "Rastafarianism", but this term is considered derogatory and offensive by some Rastas, who, being highly critical of "isms" (which they see as a typical part of "Babylon culture"), dislike being labelled as an "ism" themselves.[3]

The name Rastafari is taken from Ras Tafari, the pre-regnal title of Haile Selassie I, composed of Amharic Ras (literally "Head", an Ethiopian title equivalent to Duke), and Haile Selassie's pre-regnal given name, Tafari. Rastafari are generally distinguished for asserting the doctrine that Haile Selassie I, the former and final Emperor of Ethiopia, is another incarnation of the Christian God, called Jah.[4] Most see Haile Selassie I as Jah or Jah Rastafari, who is the second coming of Jesus Christ onto the earth, but to others he is simply God's chosen king on earth.

His foundation is in the holy mountains. Jah love is the gates of Zion, more than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things have been spoken of you, O City of God. l'll make mention to Rahab and Babylon to them that know l.

24 hours w/ Damon Dash as he runs the Rocafella empire (2004) (Part 1)

This right here proves once and for all who really ran and was the brains behind The Roc (hint: it wasn't Jay-Z). This show follows Dame around for 24 hours as he does interviews with New York Daily, argues on the phone with execs so his Rocafella producers don't get jerked, meets with Maxim Magazine, works out at the gym, makes the rounds at Rocawear, spends time with his kids, has his daily staff meeting and much more. This is what a real CEO does and a must see for anybody interested in business or just wanting motivation.

This is a perfect companion piece to Choke No Joke's "Last Days Of The Roc" because this was actually filmed a day or two before the infamous Dame vs. Def Jam Black Album meeting where Dame found out Def Jam & Jay-Z were cutting him out of everything

Malcolm X appears on a television in Chicago called "City Desk" on March 17, 1963. Interviewers are Chicago journalists Jim Hurlbut, Len O'Connor, Floyd Kalber, and Charles McCuen.

"My father didn't know his last name. My father got his last name from his grandfather and his grandfather got it from his grandfather who got it from the slavemaster. The real names of our people were destroyed during slavery. The last name of my forefathers was taken from them when they were brought to America and made slaves, and then the name of the slavemaster was given, which we refuse, we reject that name today and refuse it. I never acknowledge it whatsoever."

Sabi - Wild Heart [Official Music Video]

"Wild Heart" Lyrics:

I tried to control it
Tried to maintain it
Tried to contain it
But I failed terribly
And I don't know what to do

I tried to hold back
And accept the fact
We ain't perfect
And what we got goin' on
Might leave us both with bruises

Neither one of us
Wanted either one to say goodbye
But both of us keep hittin'
Keep on screamin' and we don't know why
We're in love

Damn (Damn)
This wild heart of mine
It's gonna get me in trouble (x2)

I'm out so I folded
Bad hand so I'm throwing it all in
It's no one to blame
Too young in the game
For this wild wind
Let's try to hold back
And accept the fact

We ain't perfect
'Cause I love yah
At least I think I do
But baby

Neither one of us
Wanted either one to say goodbye (Oh Noooooo)
But both of us keep hittin'
Keep on screamin' and we don't know why
We're in love
Damn (Damn)
This wild heart of mine
It's gonna get me in trouble (x2)

Look me in the eyes
And tell me with no lies
That you
Feel the same
Look me in the eyes
And tell me with no lies
That you can be a better man
But I don't think you could

Damn (Damn)
This wild heart of mine
It's gonna get me in trouble (x2)

Yohan Blake Beats Usain Bolt In 100m! 2012 Olympic trials.

Yohan Blake - 9.75

The Fastest Man in the World wasn't the fastest man in Jamaica.
That honour goes to Yohan Blake, who got out of the blocks fast and finished the 100-meter final in 9.75 seconds to upset world-record holder Usain Bolt by 0.11 seconds in the Jamaican Olympic trials.
A shocker? Well, that's for the world to decide. One thing for sure, however, is that the calculus for the London Olympics has changed dramatically.
Blake is the reigning world champion but that victory, last year in South Korea, came with an asterisk because Bolt didn't run that night after being disqualified for a false start. This was their first rematch, their first real race since then. Bolt was considered the favourite, not only because of his world record - 9.58 seconds - but because Blake, his training partner had never run below 9.84 in his life.

Well, now, he has.
The 9.75 seconds goes down as the best time this year and also breaks the four-year-old National Stadium record; both marks were 9.76 - both held by Bolt.
As much as the numbers, though, it was all that daylight between Blake and Bolt at the finish line that told this story. Blake, the man known as "The Beast," let out a primal scream when he crossed. Bolt just sort of pulled up - no "To the World" pose or anything else to celebrate.
Asafa Powell will join them at the Olympics, after finishing in 9.88. In the women's 100, defending Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce won in a Jamaican record 10.70 seconds, with Veronica Campbell-Brown in second and Kerron Stewart in third.

Blake beats Bolt.. the fastest man in the world.. by 0.11.

She would never say someones "Europeaness" is overbearing. That hat was cheaply made and not real Kente. I like Tyra a lot but not in this episode. "

Apple iPhone 4S Siri demo

Siri on iPhone 4S lets you use your voice to send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and more. Ask Siri to do things just by talking the way you talk. Siri understands what you say, knows what you mean, and even talks back. Siri is so easy to use and does so much, you’ll keep finding more and more ways to use it.

It understands what you say.

Talk to Siri as you would to a person. Say something like “Tell my wife I’m running late.” “Remind me to call the vet.” “Any good burger joints around here?” Siri does what you say, finds the information you need, then answers you. It’s like you’re having a conversation with your iPhone.

It knows what you mean.

Siri not only understands what you say, it’s smart enough to know what you mean. So when you ask “Any good burger joints around here?” Siri will reply “I found a number of burger restaurants near you.” Then you can say “Hmm. How about tacos?” Siri remembers that you just asked about restaurants, so it will look for Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood. And Siri is proactive, so it will question you until it finds what you’re looking for.

It helps you do the things you do every day.

Ask Siri to text your dad, remind you to call the dentist, or find directions, and it figures out which apps to use and who you’re talking about. It finds answers for you from the web through sources like Yelp and WolframAlpha. Using Location Services, it looks up where you live, where you work, and where you are. Then it gives you information and the best options based on your current location. From the details in your contacts, it knows your friends, family, boss, and coworkers. So you can tell Siri things like “Text Ryan I’m on my way” or “Remind me to make a dentist appointment when I get to work” or “Call a taxi” and it knows exactly what you mean and what to do.

It has so much to tell you.

When there’s something you need to do, just ask Siri to help you do it. Siri uses almost all the built-in apps on iPhone 4S. It writes and sends email messages and texts. It searches the web for anything you need to know. It plays the songs you want to hear. It gives you directions and shows you around. It places calls, schedules meetings, helps you remember, and wakes you up. In fact, ask Siri what it can do — it even speaks for itself.

iPhone 4S takes dictation.

Here’s another amazing way to get things done: just use your voice. Instead of typing, tap the microphone icon on the keyboard. Then say what you want to say and iPhone listens. Tap Done, and iPhone converts your words into text. Use dictation to write messages, take notes, search the web, and more. Dictation also works with third-party apps, so you can update your Facebook status, tweet, or write and send Instagrams.

REST IN PEACE, CHRISTOPHER WALLACE!!

UPLOADED FOR THE LOVE OF REAL HIP HOP!!

Isaac told AllHiphop. "I have stayed silent in prison for the past 13 years, doing a life sentence like a real soldier should, when you and everybody have turned your backs on me. Now I will clear up a few things, because the statute of limitations is over, and no one can be charged, and I'm tired of listening to your lies. In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac Shakur at the Quad studio. He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewellery I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself."

Police terrorize 7 year old child arrested

Kevin gets Arrested. His Rights are read to him. He says he understands them, but I doubt it. Is reading the rights still necessary? It is always our right to remain silent or be free to speak. It should also be our right to be told the truth.

Actually Kevin was hanging with the wrong crowd and stealing bikes. His relative had him mock arrested to teach him a lesson. The police officers' actions escalated to cruelty and beyond the intensions of the relatives.

Spurs' Tony Parker hurt in Drake, Chris Brown brawl

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker says he suffered a scratched retina on one of his eyes during a New York City nightclub brawl involving singer Chris Brown and members of hip-hop star Drake's entourage.

Parker, wearing dark sunglasses, described the incident Friday in Paris during a news conference posted on YouTube. He said he expects to be sidelined for about a week while the French team prepares for the Summer Olympics.

Parker said he was wearing a "therapeutic" contact lens and had to go to an emergency room for treatment after arriving in Paris.
Parker said: "I was with my friend Chris Brown and me and my friends took some punches, so I'll be missing the start of the French team because I can't do anything for a week except keep the lens in and then take drops."

Police said Brown, his girlfriend and his bodyguard were among several people injured during the bottle-hurling fight early Thursday at W.i.P in SoHo.
Parker said "they started throwing bottles everywhere. I don't know what happened. At first it was OK, but then it started getting worse and when the plane landed it was really hurting so I went straight to the ER."

The Spurs declined comment.

Herbie Hancock SHOOK ONES PT. II

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-QS4CTtltg

Havoc only used one sample out of that piano, not two. As far as I understood it right, the guys at the-breaks.com said he used the beginning sounds and one part which begins 4 seconds after the start.

I think he only used the part which starts after 4 seconds. If you listen closely to Shook Ones Pts.2, you will hear a crackle/static noise, always starting on the 1 of every bar. This noise sounds pitched too. He had a crackle/static on the 1 of the sample which was pitched too as he pichted the sample.

The first bar of Shock Ones Pt.2 is pitched minus 14 semitones and the second is the same sample pitched minus 9 semitone.
he VSOP Version is a live recording of "Jessica". If you compare both versions you will hear that Herbie Hancock flipped the chords on those versions.

In 1975 he started the tune with the 5 notes which can be flipped into Shook Ones Pt.2.

But in 1969 he played those 5 tones 4 seconds after the start of the tune.

Now here is my problem with the VSOP sample and why I think Havoc sampled the "Fat Albert Rotunda" Jessica Version instead of the VSOP Version. VSOP was recorded live. As in many live recordings you hear the audience. Beacuse of Herbie Hancock starting the tune with those 5 tones used for Shook Ones Pt.2 on the live version, you still hear some fans screaming.

Even after the EQing I did, you still can hear those fans. But I cant hear those fans in Shook Ones Pt.2.
Thats why I would say the sample was taken from "Jessica" from the "Fat Albert Rotunda" album by Herbie Hancock.

"Beautiful song. I'm appalled at the fact that a child was sent to prison for life for defending herself against a man who exploited her and abused her. Clearly the justice system is failing to defend us as its citizens so we chose to defend ourselves but it appears that defending ourselves doesn't help us anyway. This is a sad world we live in."
