Roaring Lion

Filmed in Jamaica, Roaring Lion charts the growth and development of the Rastafarian Movement and its founder, the former Garveyite Leonard Howell. With interviews from the renowned academic and Rasta scholar Professor Barry Chevannes and several of the movement's leading figures, Mortimmo Plano, Fimore Alvaranga, Dago and Gertrude Campbell, the documentary charts the Movement's growth from a persecuted commune in the foothills of Pinnacle, Jamaica, to an internationally recognized religion.

Roaring Lion is the first documentary officially endorsed by leading elders of the Rastafarian Movement.

  1. Greetings in the name of His Imperial Majesty. Leonard Howell began preaching in 1933 about what he considered the symbolic portent for the African diaspora—the crowning of Ras Tafari Makonnen as Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia. He published a book called The Promise Key. Go Read it. Bless!

  2. Yeah Sajid, this is an awesome video my brother!

if you really want to spread this message you need to change the title of the video to something more generic. the more likely someone is to type the word in youtube, is how they get lots of views, thats why videos of similar genres get spikes of popularity. I believe this is useful knowledge for daily life (whether you convert or not), and your message will spread!

  13. To those who are interested in the biblical link of Rasta, I am happy to share some knowledge with you:

There is a religion in the middle east, mostly from Iraq, Syria, Iran, and neighbouring countries, that follow the teachings of John Baptist, and whose priests let their locks and beards grow and wrap it in a turban, as did John Baptist who was a nazarite. This religious group is known as the Mandaeans. They have existed for around 3000 years, and they are very similar to Rasta people. Bless.

  14. Mind you that Jesus was baptised by the same man John Baptist, and the baptism that Christians use today and the way Muslims wash themselves before prayer, is derived from the Mandaean tradition of baptism. Mandaean ceremonies and weddings are always performed in lakes and waterfalls, and they all wear white. My father who is Iraqi has spoken to me about them when he saw me with my dreadlocks. Mandaeans have been persecuted and fled the middle east and now live in Canada, Europe and Australia.

  16. I believe in a deity (goddess). Now i don't know here name because there is so many, but i do know shes there and thats all that matters. I don't know her skin color, i don't know her personality, and i don't care. But i do know that she stands for what i believe in, life, nature, the planet. Now when this guy said "Christ means savior, so rastafari is our savior". Just put a big smile on my face! This is god/ goddess! Not just rastafari, but whatever you believe in that makes you happy!

  19. 21st century science which includes Paleontology, Genetics, Anthropology etc etc suggests that all homo sapiens are related to peoples that evolved in Africa. so forget skin colour and think common humanity, i am perfectly happy to be a white skinned African.

i am not happy when people use Religion and Dogma to cause division when none should exist in a perfect world. Ganja will not make you clever in the long term. its an easy option to open the doors of perception, Meditation is a better way.
